ExtremeZ-IP Adds Windows Server 2008 Support
Group Logic has released an update to ExtremeZ-IP, a connectivity solution for Mac systems running in Windows environments. The new 5.3 release adds support for Windows Server 2008 and includes a number of general fixes and enhancements.
According to Group Logic, ExtremeZ-IP 5.3 is targeted toward organizations that are looking to upgrade to Windows Server 2008 while maintaining compatibility in mixed-desktop environments. In 5.3, the ExtremeZ-IP Installer now includes the Group Logic AppleTalk Protocol, which is used by servers that do not have a native AppleTalk Protocol.
Other general fixes and enhancements include:
- No longer crashes when it encounters a folder with an empty ACL;
- Fixes an issue with Windows Firewall;
- Adds enhanced support for printing from Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications;
- Fixes an issue with clients attempting to log in with an expired key;
- Adds support for remote administration of an instance of the ExtremeZ-IP service when the Administrator is running Windows Server 2008; and
- FIxes a file copying issue with Mac OS X 10.4.11.
ExtremeZ-IP requires Windows Server 2000 SP4 or later, 2003 SP2 or later, or 2008 (does not support clusters) or, on the desktop, WIndows VIsta or Windows XP Professional SP2. On the client side, it support Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X through 10.5.
