U Pacific Dentistry School Adds Digital Signage To Communicate Across Sites

A California dental school with 14 regional clinics has installed large format digital displays to bolster campus communication. The University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, with about 550 students, recently added a dozen LED HD monitors throughout the school's main building and several remote clinics. The signage displays messages, schedules, menus, school and community images, RSS feeds, and weather reports.

The School of Dentistry's IT team worked with ConnectedSign, a Pennsylvania-based sign integrator on the implementation. The deployment included 40- and 46-inch, wall-mounted Samsung commercial-grade displays, software and training, content management and design services. The school used its own Dell PCs for media players.

"By utilizing ConnectedSign's software, and with the collaboration of many school departments including Design & Photo, Marketing & Communications and IT, we are able to better engage our school community with news and information that's relevant to their daily lives," said Raybel Ramos, director of the IT department.

He said the dental school is optimistic about expanding the digital signage system to other remote clinic locations in the near future.
