Lindsey Wilson Moves to Blackboard 9.1

Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY, is switching from the Angel learning management system to Blackboard Learn Version 9.1.

The move comes in part due to increased online learning at Lindsey Wilson, and school staff placed a high priority on the ability to easily transfer course materials from one platform to the next.

Blackboard features include:

  • Grading tools, with color-coding to easily identify students at risk of failing;
  • The ability to embed videos, audio, or mash-ups onto a page;
  • The option of creating wiki pages;
  • Teachers and administrators can add or remove users on the course homepage, and offer a self-enroll choice;
  • A dashboard for students and teachers with a notification system to help prioritize work;
  • Reporting and tracking tools of student progress using graphics, charts, and interactive rubrics;
  • For colleges and universities, McGraw-Hill is delivering content and tools inside Blackboard;
  • Institutional hierarchy, which allows a school to organize privacy access by school, department, college, and more; and
  • Timed assessments for tests, and automatic submission.

Lindsey Wilson is a liberal arts college with enrollment of about 2,500. It is a supporter of Common Cartridge, standards for online education that allows for easy sharing and creation of digital content.

Blackboard purchased Angel Learning in 2009 for approximately $95 million.
