Jenzabar Launches College Readiness Survey and Analysis Tool

Jenzabar is adding another tool to its Student Success suite of technology and services for higher education. The new Jenzabar College Readiness Inventory is an "online student survey and analysis tool that uncovers the hard-to-find non-cognitive factors impacting retention, persistence and completion at a particular institution," according to the company.

To identify and engage at-risk students, the tool analyzes self-reported data across seven psychometric scales: Academic Engagement, Academic Self-Efficacy, Campus Engagement, Educational Commitment, Institutional Valence, Life Roles and Resilience. "Jenzabar College Readiness Inventory is the roadmap for us to follow in providing high-quality, effective student success services," said Jeff McNamara, director of student success at Carroll University, in a press release. "If there is a red flag, it enables us to ask the right questions to uncover and address the real underlying concerns."

The Jenzabar College Readiness Inventory works as an annual subscription that allows an institution to deploy a 49-question online survey twice a year for a particular population or subpopulation. Students can complete the survey in under 15 minutes. Jenzabar then provides "professional analysis of the data across a wide spectrum of issues that affect the student experience, as well as an actionable summary data dashboard for the entire school. Complete individual student information reports (scales and averages) are generated with comparisons related to the unique identity of the institution."

"Many factors contribute to student success at a given institution," said Meghan Turjanica, Jenzabar Student Success Product Manager. "Increasing retention requires gathering and measuring both qualitative data, such as GPA and tests scores, and the non-cognitive or 'soft' behaviors and attitudes that can have a big impact on student persistence. Integrating a combination of data collection methods allows for more accurate and complete reporting, which in turn facilitates more effective interventions."
