Pearson, General Assembly Partner on Online Courses for Job Skills

Pearson has partnered with General Assembly (GA) to offer online, skills-focused courses in the areas of digital marketing, web development, user experience design and data analytics.

General Assembly is a global education company focused on providing "relevant and in-demand skills across data, design, business and technology," according to information from the company. Pearson entered into the partnership with General Assembly as part of its commitment to increase access to courseware that helps learners develop in-demand career skills and competencies.

"This partnership is part of our comprehensive portfolio of professional development and training course offerings designed to provide high-impact credentialing and employability solutions that prepare learners for successful, accelerated entry into the workforce," said Annabel Cellini, senior vice president of Strategy and Marketing for Pearson, in a prepared statement.

General Assembly online courses now available from Pearson include:

  • Data Analysis, which teaches people working in areas such as product management, marketing, finance and operations how to become more proficient at gathering, analyzing and presenting data using SQL, Excel and data visualization;
  • HTML, CSS and Web Design, which teaches how to design and build attractive, responsive websites using HTML and CSS;
  • Digital Marketing, which teaches how to analyze data generated by digital marketing activities and translate that data into digital marketing strategies; and
  • User Experience Design, which teaches the fundamentals of user experience design.

General Assembly's curricula is developed by subject matter experts with real-world experience. The courses are five to 10 weeks long and are delivered using social and mobile technologies. Students receive weekly mentoring sessions from a practitioner in the field.
