Washington & Jefferson College Attempts To Better Engage New Students

Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) has adopted a new platform in an effort to better engage students and their parents from admission to the beginning of their first year.

The college selected S360, from Evolution Labs, a platform designed "to immerse admitted students in engaging web and mobile-based experiences designed to foster a meaningful affinity between student and school, and to impact deposits, summer melt and, ultimately, student success," according to a news release.

S360 provides students with personalized content, such as expert-written articles, videos and surveys designed for their interests, such as career outcomes, athletics or exploring majors. Students can also connect with other newly admitted students, view campus life through the social media feeds of W&J students and staff and connect program features with their own social media profiles.

"The College attracts an extraordinarily talented and diverse group of applicants, which makes for a dynamic pool of admitted students each year," said Robert J. Gould, vice president for enrollment at W&J, in a prepared statement. "S360 helps us better engage students by connecting them to the services of the college as well as other admitted students, alumni, trustees, current student parents and enrolled students. S360 is unique in that it promises to help us usher students and their parents from the point of admission to their first week on campus, while providing staff with a set of data points about possible areas of interest and questions that are addressed in real-time."
