AWS Educate Adds Cloud Careers Training, Job Board

The educational arm of Amazon Web Services (AWS) has added new capabilities to its flagship product, helping students hone their technical skills and connect to careers in cloud computing.

AWS Educate, a global initiative to equip educators and students with resources to accelerate cloud-related learning, has added 25 self-paced content modules (totaling 30 hours) that teach technical skills used in many computer science jobs. These “Cloud Career Pathways” comprise instructional videos, lab exercises, online courses, whitepapers and podcasts, according to an AWS blog announcement. Upon completing half of any pathway and assessments, students unlock the ability to earn micro-credentials. Badges can be earned in specific areas, like Internet of Things, startups and gaming, and can be displayed on digital portfolios.

Additionally, the content modules “align curriculum directly to specific careers, like software developer to cloud architect,” according to the AWS post. Students can use the AWS Educate Job Board to connect their training to relevant internships and jobs at Amazon, Salesforce, Udacity, Splunk, Instructure and other top companies around the world.
