Education Startup Launches Online Courses for College Credit
Masterclass co-founder Aaron Rasmussen is turning his attention to making introductory college courses more affordable for students. His new venture, dubbed Outlier.org, is launching online courses for Calculus I and Introduction to Psychology this fall. Upon successful completion of a course, students will receive three college credits from the University of Pittsburgh.
For $400 per course, students will be able to gain access to course videos that are cinematically filmed and taught by "some of the brightest minds in academia." Outlier.org students will also have access to problem sets, one-on-one tutoring and assessments proctored through artificial intelligence.
"Today, access to the highest quality education is gated by geography, socioeconomic status and unnecessary scarcity," said Outlier.org CEO Rasmussen. "All that we care about at Outlier.org is that you're prepared to take our courses. If you can pass a qualifying pretest, then we're excited to give you access to the best education in the world."
