Class Announces Widespread Availability

Class, an application built on Zoom that adds teaching and learning tools to the popular meeting platform, is now widely available across Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iPad and Android tablet devices. The tool was first announced just eight months ago by Class Technologies, a new company co-founded by Michael Chasen, co-founder and former CEO of Blackboard.

"We set a goal of getting Class into the hands of as many instructors and learners as possible and as quickly as possible, because we knew it was needed now," said Chasen, in a statement. "This past year has been a struggle for many instructors and students on many levels. Now that Class is generally available across all major devices, learning online will feel and work better."

According to the company, Class allows instructors "to perform many of the activities that happen in a real classroom, virtually." For example, instructors can use Class to take attendance, hand out assignments, grade coursework, give a quiz, proctor exams, talk one-on-one with students, and more.

"Class has brought the next wave of virtual learning to life," commented Russell Kaurloto, vice president of information technology and CIO at Clemson University and a Class advisory board member. "Online education and synchronous learning will only continue to grow in a post pandemic world, and the need for software with tools to enhance the classroom connection digitally is greater than ever."
