To keep up with growing demand for its "flex" degree partnership model, 2U, owner of the edX learning platform, has signed agreements with six universities to offer 50 new degree programs, to follow other degree contracts set to begin in 2024.
These universities will offer the following online degrees and programs on edX:
- Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences: a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a Master of Science in Biomanufacturing and Bioprocessing;
- Hawai'i Pacific University: expanding to offer a Master of Science in Data Science, a Master of Science in Cybersecurity, a Master of Social Work, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership;
- King's College London: a Master in Professional Studies and 12 other professional certificate programs;
- Maryville University: 28 undergraduate degrees, 11 graduate degrees, five undergraduate certificates, and three graduate certificates;
- Emerson College: a Master of Marketing; and
- University of Cape Town: expanding to offer three one-year postgraduate diplomas and stackable credit pathways to full postgraduate diplomas.
"We have unprecedented demand for our flexible partnership model," said Andrew Hermalyn, president of partnerships at 2U. "This sharp increase highlights the appetite for continued digital innovation among universities and is a testament to the transformative power of public-private higher education partnerships."
