New England College Wins Esports Sponsorship
The esports club at New England College has secured corporate support in the form of a sponsorship deal with HyperX, a manufacturer of computer memory and high-performance gaming components. The company will supply the club with gaming peripherals such as keyboards, wrist rests, headsets, microphones, memory cards, mice and mouse pads.
"After a year of conversations, e-mails and legal work, this sponsorship is official," said Tyrelle Appleton, esports director and coach at the college, in a statement. "We carry ourselves as a top-tier program in the country, so it is truly awesome that we caught the attention of HyperX and were able to secure their sponsorship."
HyperX is also a sponsor of Collegiate Starleague, a university-level esports league with more than 70,000 competing students across 1,800 institutions in North America, and has sponsored professional esports teams such as Cloud9 and Team Liquid.
"This support means a great deal to our team. I have put my blood, sweat and tears into designing NEC's esports program and arena," said Appleton. "Our club's early competitive achievements and success in attracting this sponsorship reinforces everything we have worked for. We look forward to an amazing year of competition powdered by HyperX's top-quality products."
