Drexel Online Reaches, Teaches Hospital Staff

Philadelphia, PA-based Drexel University Online, a subsidiary of the well known Philadelphia technical university, has begun providing special-rate distance learning services to Montgomery Hospital Medical Center (MHMC), a 210-bed hospital serving central Montgomery County, PA.

Winner of the U.S. Distance Learning Association's 2006 21st Century Best Practice Award for Distance Learning, Drexel will offer online bachelor's, master's and certification courses to the more than 1,000 employees of MHMC, which treat approximately 10,000 inpatients and more than 100,000 outpatients.

MHMC staff will receive discounted access to online courses that will cover areas such as nursing and health professions, clinical research, public health, information science, business, computer science, communications, and computing technology.

Drexel, which is accredited by the Middle States Association for Colleges and Secondary Schools and its curricula hold the highest accreditations from their respective accrediting bodies such as AACSB (Business), NLN and CCNE (Nursing), and ALA (Information Science), labels the relationship with MHMC a partnership. Participating organizations and businesses in Drexel's partner network – which has been expanding over the past four years -- can offer their members and employees distance learning services that let them expand their capabilities at a lower cost and on their own schedule.
