Wimba Pronto Comes to MyLanguageLab Suite

Pearson is adding instant messaging capabilities to its online language learning software, MyLanguageLab. The hosted suite for higher education will incorporate Wimba Pronto, a collaboration tool designed specifically for education.

MyLanguageLab comprises three online learning tools: MySpanishLab, MyFrenchLab, and MyItalianLab. They all include online assessment capabilities and collaboration capabilities like built-in audioconferencing. MyLanguageLab software is in use by some 100,000 students, according to information provided by Pearson.

Now MylanguageLab is including Wimba Pronto, an education-focused instant messaging and voice chat tool. It provides live online communications for students and instructors, audio and video conferencing capabilities, desktop application sharing, support for queuing for individualized help, and automatic population of contact lists based on courses.

Further information about the new messaging and collaboration features can be found here.
