Smart Debuts Wide-Format Interactive Whiteboard, Pen Display

Smart Technologies this week debuted a new widescreen interactive whiteboard system and widescreen interactive pen display.

The Smart Board 685ix is a fully integrated interactive whiteboard whiteboard system. It incorporates a Smart Board 685 interactive whiteboard and an ultra-short-throw (16 inches) widescreen projector sporting a 16:10 WXGA resolution (1,280 x 768), a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, and a brightness of 2,000 lumens.

Other features include:

  • Extended control panel for power, source selection, and volume;
  • Integrated USB hub;
  • Wire management;
  • Networking capabilities;
  • 3,000-hour lamp life; and
  • Security features, such as a Kensington lock slot and a projector padlock loop.

Smart also launched its new Smart Podium ID422w (formerly known as the Sympodium), an HD interactive pen display. The ID422w joins the ID350 and the ID370 in Smart's interactive pen display lineup, offering a 16:9 aspect ratio and 40 percent more interactive workspace than the ID370, according to Smart. The ID422w integrates with Smart Board interactive whiteboards and includes Smart's Notebook software.

The Smart Podium ID422w widescreen interactive pen display is expected to be available in the fall with an education price of $2,839 ($3,559 retail). The Smart Board 685ix interactive whiteboard system is expected to ship in October with an education price of $4,299 ($5,999 retail). Further information can be found here.
