South Korea Health College Cuts Costs With Mobile Suite

South Korean health training facility Daegu Health College has implemented a mobile application platform designed to meet the growing mobile demands of its students.  

Built on IBM's MobileFirst application and data platform, which comprises IBMWorklight, a single, integrated mobile application platform for smart phones and tablets that enables the creation of cross-platform apps, and  FAS, a system integrator and business partner of IBM, an array of mobile applications known as "SmartDHC" will now allow the college's 7,500 students to verify class registration, check grades, view class schedules, and search library materials from their mobile devices.

In addition, IBM MobileFirst speeds up the development cycle for mobile applications, allowing the college to keep up with rapidly changing mobile platforms. With a single development process for multiple devices, the college is able to reduce the time and costs associated with developing for multiple operating systems.

"In order to provide the same services across different platforms and devices, there are a lot of matters that must be considered," said Jae-Do Lee, head of the Academic Information Center, Daegu Health College, in a prepared statement.

"By using IBM MobileFirst solutions, we have the ability to achieve integrated management for all of our mobile apps, enabling students to benefit from the apps regardless of device or platform."

Daegu Health College is a health training college located in Daegu, South Korea with approximately 7,500 students.
