Penn State Launches Online Master's in Electrical Engineering

Pennsylvania State University has adapted its master's in electrical engineering program to offer an online version through Penn State World Campus.

The 30-credit program is designed to offer a flexible way for engineers to advance their careers by proving "foundations in theory, research and applications that will enable graduates to work in a variety of industries, such as architectural design, semiconductors and other electronic components manufacturing, the federal government and more," according to a news release.

The program includes nine credits from core electrical engineering courses with the remainder coming from specialization courses such as communications systems, control systems and stochastic processes, signal processing and more.

Courses will be taught by College of Engineering and Harrisburg School of Science, Engineering and Technology faculty.

"Penn State has long been known for its high-quality engineering degree programs, and we are excited to offer this degree in an online format for the first time," said Robert Gray, associate professor of electrical engineering at Penn State Harrisburg and the lead faculty member for the new online program, in a prepared statement. "This degree was designed to help prepare engineers for a broad range of careers, from electric power and utilities to electronic control systems."
