SoftChalk Updates Curriculum Authoring Platform with E-Book Creation Tool

SoftChalk has updated its digital curriculum authoring platform, SoftChalk Cloud, with a new e-book creation tool and publishing options, among other improvements.

As a result of the upgrade, teachers can now package SoftChalk content in interactive e-books for students to download using the SoftChalk eReader app.

"The new SoftChalk e-book functionality allows instructors to make their course content available to students in a format that allows a student to highlight text, add personal notes to the lessons and access a built-in dictionary. And, the e-book format also allows students to retain access to their course materials, even after the course is over," said Sue Polyson-Evans, CEO of SoftChalk, in a prepared statement. "E-books are not new. But what is new with SoftChalk Cloud is that now, any instructor can easily create and distribute their own course materials in an interactive e-book format. The response from faculty, in beta testing and early release of the product, has been extremely positive. There is a huge interest among faculty in creating and distributing their own e-books."

"In addition to the new e-book functionality, this release of SoftChalk Cloud includes support for enhanced styling of lesson content using new designer-styled headings, callout boxes and enhancements to the display of interactive content such as interactive quizzes and games," according to a news release. "Three new quiz question types are also available in the new version."
