Qlik Expands Portfolio of Free Data Analytics Tools for Universities
Qlik, a company that
primarily makes data analytics tools for business, has added a new
component to
the free digital course materials it offers to universities.
The company has added a new
data analytics curriculum to its Qlik Academic Program. The
program, which the
company has offered to higher education institutions since 2012, offers
digital
tools that students and professors in all academic disciplines can use
to
visualize and analyze data and then share findings with one another.
The new data analytics
curriculum includes more instructor-led content, in-class activities
and
student assignments. There is also a new Qlik Continuous Classroom that is
a
self-service online learning platform that features 50 modules with
videos,
exercises and quizzes that can be customized by professors and students.
There is also a private online Qlik
Community of professors and students where they can share
resources and
start discussions.
Accredited, nonprofit
university-level institutions can get free full-year subscriptions to
either
desktop or cloud-based versions of the Qlik Academy Program. According
to the
company, more than 500 universities have subscriptions, including Northeastern
University, Stockholm University and Virginia
Tech University.
"It is so easy to learn that
students are able to build business intelligence applications after a
few
classes," said Wenhong Luo, an associate accounting professor at
Villanova
University. "Working with Qlik, we are giving students the opportunity
to
tackle real-world business problems, and with this type of experience,
students
can be productive a lot sooner in their future endeavors."
