Educause Intros Emerging Edtech Membership

Educause today announced a new membership offering designed for emerging ed tech companies that want to break into the higher education IT market. The Emerging Edtech Membership expands the support available to new companies, including "enhanced opportunities to engage and network with key higher education IT decision-makers," according to the organization.

"The Educause community understands that innovative ed tech offers promising traction when it comes to some of our toughest challenges," said John O'Brien, Educause president and CEO, in a statement. "We're committed to encouraging the emerging ed tech community to foster and elevate innovation across the higher ed community."

Emerging Edtech Members receive various opportunities for exposure at the Educause Annual Conference and other association events; access to IT research, market share reports and publications; access to member networks and topic-based communities; and more.

"Navigating the higher education IT landscape can sometimes be overwhelming for new players in this space," said Margita Blattner, Educause senior director of business development, in a statement. "This new membership tier allows companies who are working to get a foothold in the education technology space to gain access to resources and a community of IT decision-makers they need to be successful."

Earlier this year, Educause also introduced an all-in-one membership for the higher education IT community, which combines access to Educause, the Educause Center for Analysis and Research (ECAR) and the Educause Learning Initiative (ELI), no longer requiring separate subscriptions. That change will go live in July 2017.
