Moodlerooms Becomes Blackboard Open LMS
Blackboard is rebranding its open source learning management system. The LMS formerly known as Moodlerooms will now be called Blackboard Open LMS. The company said it's also "accelerating investment and development of the product."
According to Blackboard: "The rebrand follows Blackboard's strategic decision to exit the Moodle Certified Partner Program. Blackboard remains committed to providing clients with the most mature and stable Moodle-based Software as a Service (SaaS) product in the market and will continue to support the Moodle project. The decision to exit the partner program allows Blackboard to focus its resources on continued development of the Blackboard Open LMS platform."
Among the new features Blackboard plans to add as part of its increased investment in Open LMS are:
- Improved IMS Global standard support;
- New features offering improved in-app help;
- A focus on universal access; and
- "Deeper integrations with critical third-party partners," the company reported.
