Purdue Online Writing Lab Teams with Chegg

Purdue University will be working with Chegg, a company that produces online homework help among other lines of business, to amplify its Online Writing Lab (OWL) services. OWL offers free resources to help people — students and professionals — improve their writing and research skills.

Under the agreement, Purdue will incorporate Chegg's tools, such as a citation function, into OWL content to provide on-demand support; the company will integrate OWL's rules and standards in its writing tools; and faculty and staff from the Purdue Writing Lab and the College of Liberal Arts will offer expertise and feedback to Chegg for product development.

Chegg's own online writing service, EasyBib Plus, lets students upload their papers and receive instant feedback on grammar, spelling and how to write more effectively.

By partnering with Chegg, we continue our forward-looking approach to instruction, advocacy and research around writing and continue to offer this free resource to writers who come to us, literally from schools, businesses and governments all over the world, said Harry Denny, associate professor of English and Writing Lab director, in a statement.

We are thrilled Purdue is taking this innovative step with our partnership, added Nathan Schultz, president of learning services at Chegg. Purdue's OWL is globally recognized as the leading authority in writing resources, and by integrating their content with Chegg writing tools, we will help students everywhere become better writers in school and in their professional careers.
