Echo360 Intros Groups Feature for Secure Video Sharing

Video platform Echo360 has launched a new Groups feature, allowing institutions, faculty and students to securely share video in ad hoc repositories.

With Groups, users can bring together specific sets of people and media, in either formal groups (such as an individual class) or informal ones (such as student-defined study groups). Video can then be shared with controlled membership and individualized permissions, satisfying intellectual property concerns, according to a news announcement.

"Video provides essential opportunities for students to engage further with course content while also providing another way to share important campus information with students," said Perry Samson, professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Michigan, in a statement. "With the Groups feature, we can create video repositories that make it easy to share and view video content that helps students to be successful."

Echo360 also recently announced support for IP cameras, so instructors can use any camera that supports RTSP streaming to record video. Because cameras can connect to the Echo360 platform via the university network, they can be positioned anywhere in a room, without the need for HDMI cables. And instructors can record video by connecting to the network, with no need to plug a camera directly into their computer.
