RedShelf and Akademos Team Up to Bring More Affordable Digital Course Materials to Students

The partnership expands the number of available reduced-cost educational digital content at more than 120 colleges and universities nationwide.

More than 120 institutions across the U.S. using online bookstore solutions from Akademos will soon notice a significant increase in digital course material offerings. Akademos announced it is working with RedShelf, a supplier of digital course materials, to provide students more e-learning content at prices up to 60 percent lower than printed course materials.

Akademos offers students a personalized shopping experience, with new, used, rental and e-book options. Using RedShelf’s cloud-based e-reader platform, students will be able to access more than 380,000 e-textbooks and end-user offerings in the company’s digital catalog. The platform also includes tools such as highlighting, flashcards and search and define.

“Joining forces with RedShelf significantly expands our selection of low-cost educational materials while providing students with an exceptional digital reading experience,” said John Squires, CEO of Akademos. “This partnership allows us to enhance support for our partner schools as more and more students make the transition from printed to electronic materials.”

“Creating software that keeps students focused on content, pedagogy, and learning is helping to elevate the e-textbook experience on campuses across the country,” said Greg Fenton, CEO and co-founder of RedShelf, in a prepared statement. “This important partnership with Akademos allows us to reach even more students and continue to work towards our shared mission of providing affordable course materials to students everywhere.”

The RedShelf platform will be available to Akademos students beginning this July.
